Monongahela Valley Hospital To Host Oxygen Seminar for Medical Professionals
(September 16, 2013 - Carroll Township, Pa.)
The effective use of oxygen delivery devices will be the topic of a free seminar Thursday, Sept. 26, from 8 to 11 a.m. at Monongahela Valley Hospital (MVH).
"The adequate delivery of oxygen is important at all levels of care," explained Susan Campus, lead care manager at MVH's Primary Care Resource Center. "People with respiratory problems make up a large portion of the patient population and they can face many challenges when they leave the hospital. In addition, there are so many devices available for the delivery of oxygen that in order to provide the highest level of care, medical personnel need to match the right device with the right patient."
A multidisciplinary team from MVH that includes nurses, administrators, pharmacists and social workers has teamed with community health care professionals to plan the seminar. Speakers include respiratory therapists Steve Manna, from McKnight Medical, and Carrie Murt, from AdvaCare Home Services. Participants will have an opportunity to meet one-on-one and see demonstrations from nine durable medical equipment exhibitors.
The seminar will offer 3 Continuing Education Credits for nurses, social workers, case managers, and administrators of nursing and personal care homes.
A continental breakfast will be served. Parking is free in Monongahela Valley Hospital's parking garage.
For reservations, call 724-258-1932.
