BOOMER-PALOOZA Comes to Charleroi

Boomer-Palooza 2007 is coming to Charleroi Chamber Plaza on Monday, June 4 from 3 to 8 p.m.

The Mon Valley “Baby Boomer” generation – residents between 43 and 61 of age – wants to know what programs, products, services and opportunities are available to them. SPHS Aging Services and a team of community agencies and businesses are ready to bring Palooza information to the Boomers.

More than 100 vendors will be on hand to showcase products and services designed especially for men and women of Boomer-age. Sponsors and vendors are still being considered for this premier event but will include financial and retirement planning experts, reverse mortgage information, anti-aging professionals, health screenings, health and wellness information, travel venues, "things you have always wanted to do or own" and caring for aging parents.

Boomer-Palooza will also highlight fabulous local restaurants and caterers who will offer a “Taste of the Valley” through shared food sampling for Boomer-Palooza attendees.

Featured entertainment includes several celebrity impersonators, including Tom Watt, “The Buffet Man,” the #1 Jimmy Buffett impersonator, who will perform with his band from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

For more information, contact Jodi Cain, Supervisor of Community Services, SPHS Aging Services at 724-489-1100.

Boomer-Palooza – A Definition

What is a “baby boomer”? What is a Palooza?

Generally speaking, a baby boomer is someone born during
a period of increased birth rates, or baby boom.
In the United States, the term is iconic and more properly
capitalized as Baby Boomers. The term is commonly applied
to people with birth years after World War II, 1946 to 1964.

A palooza on the other hand is a little more difficult to define.
Loosely put, a palooza is an extravaganza, a humdinger,
something outstanding of its kind.
