Athletes
of the Week
Jen
Pergola
Jen Pergola had a
career-high seven points with three goals and four assists in a 9-0
Ringgold romp against Uniontown in the Lady Rams' Class AAA Section 6
opener. With that effort, Pergola is The Valley Independent's
Athlete of the Week. Besides enjoying her highest scoring night,
Pergola also broke the school's all-time career record. Jen's
first assist tied the old mark of 35 set by Tammy Blaskovich.
Pergola is now setting her sights on Blaskovich's career goal-scoring
record of 84. Jen presently has 78 goals to
go with 44 assists.
Joe
Webb
In a 21-7 victory
over Laurel Highlands, Ringgold running back Joe Webb had a one-way
ticket, in all facets of the word. After running a committee of Rams in the
backfield the first two games of the season, Ringgold coach Scott Venick
decided to hand the ball exclusively to Webb.
In Ringgold's Quad West opener, Webb
carried the ball 27 times for a whopping 229 yards and one
touchdown. For his efforts, Webb has been named The Valley
Independent's Player of the Week.
Lorenzo
Gardner
Running
for 175 yards and three touchdowns and throwing for 111 yards and another
score in one game isn't a bad night's work. However, it was no big deal to
Ringgold High senior quarterback Lorenzo Gardner, who's The Valley
Independent Player of the Week Conference win at Cannon-McMillan Friday,
September 21. On the third play of the game, Gardner raced 46 yards for a
touchdown and the Rams never looked back.
Congratulations
to Lorenzo,
Jennifer, and Joe for this
outstanding recognition.
