This year, Monongahela Valley Hospital introduced two new programs: Teen Freshstart Smoking Cessation Program and the Taking Charge of Choices Pregnancy Prevention Program.

Dr. Rach

Dr. Paul Rach is Yough School District's Superintendent. He is married to Janice and has two daughters: Kelly, 22 and Julie, 20. He enjoys golf, reading, and gardening in his spare time.

Dr. Rach graduated from Monongahela High School in 1965. He then attended California University of Pennsylvania where he received his bachelor's degree in 1969 and his master's in 1972. He later received his doctorate at West Virginia University in 1994. In his thirty years at Yough School District, Dr. Rach has taught social studies and computer courses while coaching sports such as football, basketball, track, and volleyball at the high school and middle school. Before becoming superintendent, Dr. Rach wore a number of different administrative hats, including assistant and head principal at Yough High School, athletic director, and administrative assistant.



Dr. Lawrence Nemec
Dr. Lawrence Nemec is the newly appointed administrative assistant in the Yough School District. He lives in Turkeytown with his wife Barbara and enjoys hunting, walking, and riding his bike on the Yough River Trail. He is very active in his community, being fire chief of South Huntington Township for the past 25 years

After graduating from South Huntington High School in 1962, Dr. Nemec received his bachelor's and master's degrees at California University of Pennsylvania in 1966 and 1970, respectively. He later did his work for administrative certification at West Virginia University. In the 35 years Dr. Nemec has worked for the district, he has been a teacher, elementary principal (Mendon, Barren Run, H.W. Good, and Lowber), middle school principal, director of elementary education, and administrative assistant.




Mr. Earl Thompson
Mr. Earl Thompson is vice principal at YHS. He is married to Nancy with two children: Ryan,15, who is a student at YHS, and Erin, 11. He enjoys all outdoor activities, but his favorite is golf.

Mr. Thompson graduated from Belle Vernon High School in 1975. He received his bachelor's degree at the University of Pittsburgh in 1983, and his master's degree in administration in 1997. In his 15 years previous to coming to Yough School District, Mr. Thompson taught in the Pittsburgh Public School System, mostly at Milliones Middle School in the Hill District. He became the athletic director at YHS in 1998 and is currently the vice principal and athletic director at YHS.




Mr. Ronald Yuvan
Mr. Ronald Yuvan is the new principal at YHS. He is married to Carol and has two daughters: Veronica, 30 and Rona, 27. Mr. Yuvan enjoys outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, and golf. He also works out in his spare time to keep in shape.

Mr. Yuvan graduated from Sewickley Area High School in 1960. He then attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he received his bachelor's degree in 1965 and also played football. He later received his master's degree and principal's papers at Duquesne University in 1977. Mr. Yuvan has worked in the Yough School District for about 35 years. He started out teaching driver's education and later taught geography in the middle school. He also coached baseball, basketball, and football throughout most of his years in Yough. Mr. Yuvan was once the administrative assistant in the district for six years, the vice principal for two years, and is now the new head principal of Yough High School.
