The hospital offers many
programs to the schools at the elementary, intermediate and senior levels. Some of the
programs that Healthy Communities offers are:
- AIDS Awareness - Addresses the
cause of AIDS, modes of transmission and prevention. Program is geared
to high school students.
- Health Awareness Fairs
- Feel Good Puppet Program
- Elementary school program that uses puppets to teach about
self-esteem and the prevention of drugs and alcohol.
- Glow Germ Screening -
Infection control program for elementary students that emphasizes hand
washing.
- Health Care Career Speakers
- Nico-Teen SmartŪSmoking Prevention
- Program for sixth grade students that addresses health hazards
associated with nicotine.
Prom Promise/Prevention
of Drugs/Alcohol - Presentation by Emergency Room physician or staff member
that focuses on the dangers of drinking and driving and use of drugs.
