MVH MEDICAL STAFF
REACHES ALL TIME HIGH

MVH answers the need
for additional skilled physicians and services.

During the last Fiscal Year, the MVH medical staff grew with the appointments of physicians in the specialties of Radiation Therapy, Radiology, Otolaryngology and Facial Plastics, Endocrinology, Podiatry, Hematology/Oncology, Anesthesia and Pain Management and Emergency Medicine. This growth increases the depth of the hospital's services and access to quality health care and provides a medical staff to the residents of the mid-Monongahela Valley that now numbers more than 200.

For well over 100 years, MVH has been the health care facility that area residents turned to in times of need. With an aging population in the mid-Monongahela Valley, it's no surprise to find that the need for additional physicians and health care services are on the rise. MVH is answering those needs.

The hospital and the medical staff members have earned not only praise, but the respect of their peers and the referrals of thousands of managed care professionals, physician networks, health care personnel and individual patients.

The hospital is in the midst of many programs to expand and add services. A new Emergency Department doubles the size of the previous ED and, with the introduction of a Fast Track System, a staff of new ED physicians and increased physician hours, patient convenience is at an all-time high.

“We're excited to add new physicians to our medical staff who will help us continue to grow and improve our health system,” said Ronald A. Lutes, D.O., president of Monongahela Valley Hospital’s medical staff. “These physicians are choosing to practice at MVH because of our modern facility and technology, breadth of services and a dedicated staff of health care professionals.”

“Reaching a medical staff size of more than 200 physicians is a goal we intended to accomplish to continue to redefine health care in a way that is both responsive to our patients and continues to improve our industry. These new staff additions will continue that process and offer the rest of our medical staff a larger complement of specialists to turn to for advanced medical care,” he said.

“Facial plastic surgery, new orthopedic surgical implants and non-invasive surgical techniques are just some of the latest innovations that these skilled physicians have brought to our facility,” Dr. Lutes said.

A redesigned Women's Care Center in the hospital has already opened. So has a new Center for Children’s Rehabilitation. Other new technologies include the acquisition of IGRT (Image Guided Radiation Therapy) equipment for cancer care. New construction for additional imaging equipment is underway to add a third CT scanner – a 64-slice unit – with plans for other expansions being made.

Louis J. Panza, Jr., president and CEO of Monongahela Valley Hospital said, “Our successes, past, present and future, continue to be dependent upon our dedicated employees, medical staff and volunteers at MVH. From creative scheduling to flexible benefits, we conscientiously demonstrate our appreciation and commitment to our staff so they can concentrate on providing unique options and extraordinary care for all of our patients and communities we serve.

“We will continue to strive to provide high-quality health services in a caring, safe, and cost-effective manner. We will also remain flexible and adaptive to the ever-changing environment around us and look forward to the years ahead by continuing to improve the health of our communities and putting our patients first. A growing, dedicated, top notch medical staff is an important piece to fulfilling these initiatives,” Panza said.
