History
The hospital/health system is now in its 103 rd year of
operation. The 100th anniversary was celebrated in December
2002. The healthcare system traces its heritage to the
turn of the century when its predecessor facilities, Charleroi-Monessen
Hospital and Memorial Hospital of Monongahela, were founded.
The two hospitals consolidated on July 1, 1972, forming
what is now Monongahela Valley Hospital. The current facility
in Carroll Township opened in September 1978.
