That's the goal of Monongahela Valley Hospital's Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service. Whether you suffer from a cardiac or chronic respiratory condition, rehabilitation is an essential part of the healing process, both physically and emotionally.
Cardiac Rehabilitation
This program is for individuals recovering from cardiac surgery, a heart attack or those with stable angina.
This medically supervised program is comprised of monitored exercise, behavior modification and education all designed to return the individual to an optimal level of functioning.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation
This program is for individuals who suffer from chronic respiratory illnesses such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), emphysema and chronic bronchitis.
This 12-week, medically supervised program strives to help the individual achieve a higher quality of life through exercise and education.

Insurance Information
Most insurance providers provide reimbursement for Phase 2 Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. The Phase 3 Maintenance Rehabilitation may not be covered by your insurance. Please be sure to check with your insurance provider before beginning Rehabilitation.
How Rehabilitation Begins
Rehabilitation often begins in the hospital after a cardiac or pulmonary event. Once the patient is ready to leave the hospital, the physician will refer the patient for rehabilitation, which will continue in an outpatient setting.

12-week monitored, rehabilitation program which meets three times per week

Supervised maintenance exercise
Monongahela Valley Hospital's Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is designed to help individuals suffering from heart and/or lung disease achieve a higher quality of life through exercise and education, while improving their mental and physical health.
Components of our cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation program include:
Patient assessments; counseling on physical activity, nutrition, blood pressure and weight management; tailored exercise programs; medication management and education; and emotional support.
