Emergency Services

The Emergency Department at Monongahela Valley Hospital provides 24-hour care to the residents of the mid-Monongahela Valley.

The skilled physicians and nurses at MVH's Emergency Department treat over 30,000 patients each year. Upon arrival, patients are prioritized for emergency care. The triage system provides quick assessment of patients' needs allowing us to administer the quality care for which the MVH Emergency Department is known.

On any given day, the dedicated physicians and nurses working in the ED diagnose and treat everything from sports sprains and influenza to heart attacks and strokes. Their skill and expertise have led to MVH earning the American Heart Association's Mission Lifeline Bronze Receiving Quality Achievement Award for meeting specific criteria and standards of performance for the quick and appropriate treatment of people experiencing heart attacks by providing emergency procedures to re-establish blood flow to blocked arteries.

MVH also earned the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Get With the Guidelines® Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award, The Joint Commission's Certification for Primary Care Stroke Center and the Women's Choice Award® for being one of America's Best Stroke Centers. In addition, according to Press Ganey surveys, people who received care in MVH's Emergency Department in July 2017 ranked the hospital in the 99th percentile for overall patient satisfaction.

If you have an emergency, dial 911.
