Rostraver Imaging

When you need diagnostic imaging, rely on the medical professionals that you know and trust to perform your tests. Monongahela Valley Hospital's medical team at Rostraver Imaging use the most advanced digital diagnostic equipment. Our outpatient services include:

CT Scan
Computerized axial tomography, also known as a CT scan, is a special X-ray test that produces cross-sectional images of the body using X-rays and a computer. CT allows doctors to see diseases that in the past could often only be found through surgery. CT is noninvasive, safe and well-tolerated. It provides a highly detailed look at many different parts of the body including the brain, neck, spine, chest, abdomen, pelvis and sinuses.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a technique that uses a magnetic field and radio waves to create detailed images of the organs and tissues within the body. Most MRI machines are large, tube-shaped magnets. When a person is positioned in the MRI machine, the magnetic field temporarily realigns hydrogen atoms in his or her body. Radio waves cause these aligned atoms to produce very faint signals which are used to create cross-sectional MRI images - like slices in a loaf of bread. The MRI machine can also be used to produce 3-D images that may be viewed from many different angles.

  • Open MRI
An Open MRI is a practical alternative for people who do not like closed spaces. An open MRI is a painless, non-invasive procedure that produces no known side or after affects. Our imaging facility uses the most advanced technology to create an environment that places patient comfort and sensitivity at the forefront. The open design reduces anxiety and stress.

  • High Field MRI
The higher the field strength the more powerful and faster the scanner. Images can be acquired 1 1/2 - 2 times faster than an open machine. High Field offers more advanced imaging techniques that are not available on the open scanners. High Field MRI has the capability to image much smaller areas of interest with detail due to a stronger signal helping to provide a more precise diagnosis.

For more than 50 years, ultrasound medical imaging has been one of the most widely used diagnostic tools to image the body. Medical sonography is an ultrasound-based imaging technique used to capture the size and structure of muscles, tendons and many internal organs.

Due to its availability, speed, accuracy and lower costs, X-rays are often the first-line test of choice in radiologic diagnosis. No appointments are necessary for X-rays, but a physician's prescription is required.

Please note that a physician's prescription is required for all testing.
